BT, the UK's largest telecommunications provider, has announced an impressive rise in profits, in part thanks to an increase in broadband users.
The firm said that is saw pre-tax profits for the three months to the end of December reach £652 million, which is a 49 per cent year-on-year rise.
Revenue, by contrast, fell by five per cent, reaching £4.77 billion.
Reflecting on the impressive performance, chief executive Ian Livingston said: "We have delivered another quarter of growth in profits and cash flow despite the economic head-winds."
Speaking specifically about BT's broadband operation, Mr Livingston added: "Our fibre roll-out has accelerated bringing super-fast broadband within reach of over seven million homes and businesses and we remain the number one broadband retailer with over six million customers."
The firm also confirmed that labour costs fell by three per cent. Similarly, payments to telecommunications operators fell 15 per cent, largely due to lower call volumes.
Silent Edge's sales training programmes provide staff with the skills required to make the most of consumer trends and drive sales performance.
